Position Overview
Our Client is a well-established construction firm specializing in the development of multifamily apartment complexes. They are seeking an experienced Superintendent to oversee projects in the Charleston, SC area, with the flexibility to travel as needed to support additional sites.
The Superintendent will be responsible for the day-to-day management and successful delivery of multifamily construction projects from groundbreaking through final completion. This hands-on leadership role requires strong coordination skills, a commitment to safety and quality, and the ability to drive projects on schedule and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
Manage all on-site construction activities for multifamily apartment projects, ensuring work is performed according to plans, specifications, and company standards.
Supervise subcontractors, trade partners, and field personnel to maintain productivity, quality, and safety.
Develop, update, and enforce project schedules; proactively identify and resolve potential delays.
Coordinate with project managers, architects, engineers, and owners to ensure clear communication and alignment on project goals.
Conduct daily and weekly site inspections, enforce safety protocols, and maintain a safe working environment in compliance with OSHA and company policies.
Oversee quality control, material deliveries, and site logistics.
Manage RFI processes, change orders, and documentation to keep projects on track.
Mentor and develop assistant superintendents and field staff.
Represent the company professionally with owners, inspectors, and local authorities.
Travel as required to support projects in other locations.
Qualifications
Proven experience as a Superintendent on multifamily residential or similar large-scale construction projects.
Strong knowledge of multifamily construction methods, sequencing, and best practices.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple subcontractors and keep complex projects on schedule and budget.
Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency with construction management software and Microsoft Office.
Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel.
OSHA 30 certification preferred; strong commitment to job-site safety required.
